The Governing Council, the highest consultative and deliberative body of the IRI, is composed of:

  • Dean and Associate Dean;
  • Presidents of the following committees: Undergraduate (CG), Graduate (CPG), Research and Innovation (CPqI), Culture and University Extension (CCEx), and Inclusion and Belonging (CIP);
  • Faculty representatives (full, associate, and assistant), student representatives (undergraduate and graduate), representatives of technical and administrative staff, and alumni of the Bachelor’s program in International Relations.

Under the IRI Bylaw, and in addition to the provisions set forth in the Statute and the General Regulations of USP, the Governing Council is responsible for:

I – approving the annual schedule and multi-year plans to achieve the Institute's objectives;
II – approving the creation or incorporation of study groups, research centers and research clusters, and committees;
III – approving the internal regulations of the statutory committees, as well as establishing the general guidelines to be followed by these committees;
IV – reviewing the Institute’s annual activity report, prepared by the Dean; and
V – resolving any cases not otherwise provided for within its scope of competence.

The regular meetings of the Collegiate Body are scheduled to take place during the 2025 academic term, except in exceptional cases, always on the last Thursday of each month at 9:00 AM in the Governing Council Room (2nd floor of the IRI Building).
