    • The allocation of credits for PAE-2 participation is subject to a 20% (twenty percent) limit of the total course credits required by the program, as established in Article 6 of Ordinance GR No. 3588, of May 10, 2005, which regulates the Teaching Improvement Program (PAE) at USP.

For special credits to be granted, the activities listed above must be taken and documented while the student is officially enrolled in the program.

A request for the transfer of credits from courses taken at USP may be submitted in two cases:

  • When the student previously completed USP courses as a non-degree student.
  • When a PhD student completed their master's degree at USP and finished the program with excess credits.

Credits Earned as a Non-Degree Student

Master’s and PhD students may request the transfer of credits for courses taken as a non-degree student at USP within 36 months prior to their official enrollment in the graduate program.

Excess Credits from the Master's Program

Excess credits earned in a master's program at USP within 36 months prior to PhD enrollment may be transferred to the doctoral program.

Request Procedure

The request must be submitted to the Graduate Studies Committee using the designated request form and sent by email to the Graduate Program Office, along with supporting documents.

The student must include the course code for which he requested credit transfer.

A separate request must be submitted for each course.

A student regularly enrolled in the program may request the transfer of credits from graduate-level courses taken outside USP (in stricto sensu graduate programs recognized by CAPES), up to a limit of one-third of the minimum required credits.

Request Procedure

The request must be submitted to the Graduate Studies Committee using the designated request form. The student must complete the form and send it by email to the Graduate Program Office, along with the following supporting documents:

  • Course Syllabus: Original copy of the course program, including the course name, syllabus, content, bibliography, etc.
  • Certificate: Original copy of the certificate of completion, indicating the total hours, grade obtained, and number of credits earned.

Important Information

  • Credit transfer is only possible for courses completed within 36 months prior to the student’s initial enrollment in the program.
  • 01 USP credit is equivalent to 15 hours of coursework, which will serve as the standard conversion basis for courses taken outside the University of São Paulo.
